AMI Expeditionary Healthcare is Hiring an Anesthesiologist Near Hampton, VA

We are currently seeking multiple Anesthesiologists to practice in Hampton, VA at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) at 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667. All staff will be expected to provide services with other OR staff to provide the highest quality of care for patients.

The following criteria is required to be considered for this position.

JOB SUMMARY

In this role you will be expected to perform the following:

  • Physician shall provide clinical Anesthesiology services. Physician shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
  • Physician shall provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic and ophthalmologic operations.
  • Physician shall provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites.
  • Physician shall provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
  • Physician shall provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
  • Physician shall provide clinical supervision to the staff CRNA staff.
  • Physician shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
  • Physician shall provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesiology clinical or surgical patients.
  • Mechanisms must be in-place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Estimated 10% of time not involved in direct patient care
  • Physician shall participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
  • Physician shall attend staff meetings as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. Contractor to communicate with COR on this requirement and report any conflicts that may interfere with compliance with this requirement.
  • Physician shall complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations.

QUALIFICATIONS

For consideration the following criteria must be met

  • Physician must have and maintain an active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in ANY State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
  • Physician must be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  • Physician must have active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Physician must have a minimum of FIVE years’ experience practicing Anesthesiology in a clinical setting.
  • Physician must have the ability to effectively communicate and work with a team.
  • Physician must have the ability to effectively communicate and aid patients receiving care.
