We are looking for an experienced and proactive Buyer to oversee and optimize our material procurement and inventory management processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Responsibilities

  • ​Plan, develop, and control tasks related to the effective management of the acquisition of merchandise and supplies from national and international suppliers.
  • ​Generate and implement strategies to maintain and control optimal inventory levels based on the changing environment and compliance with company objectives.
  • ​This position will lead the component elimination phase from the management of point orders at the inventory level working with the demand planning.
  • ​Establish and maintain inventory policies, safety stock levels, and ensure that all planning data is accurate for all purchase items in the ERP system to make timely business decisions.
  • ​Collaborate in the Supplier Score Card process to improve communication with suppliers.
  • ​Analyze the impact of weekly changes in demand on merchandise requirements within the assigned portfolio and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  • ​Develop strategies per supplier, per product on a monthly basis to meet store merchandise demand, considering the particular area, as well as the size of the portfolio in USD, evaluations on the complexity of production, materials and distribution to establish minimum order quantities, lead times, and the most effective lot sizes.
  • ​Monitor and develop strategies for the management of merchandise/waste, materials and obsolete supplies stored for disposal.
  • Maintain traceability of backlog requirements and work with suppliers to hold them responsible for additional freight costs whenever the scope of responsibility falls on the supplier's ineffective ability to plan on-time delivery
  • ​According to purchasing requirements in accordance with negotiated and established lead times.
  • ​Direct material availability (allocation) to production scheduling teams to recognize build/ship dates for orders to stores.
  • ​Coordinate and schedule vendor requirements/trade reviews to track requirements, demand changes, packaging and delivery issues.
  • ​Issue RMA purchase orders and follow up on return shipments to vendors.
  • ​Resolve import, logistics or billing reference issues.
  • ​Support PPV (positive price variance) sourcing initiatives and update open order pricing in accordance with sourcing negotiations made.
  • ​Communicate, coordinate and resolve quality issues. This includes non-conforming material rejection elimination.
  • ​Coordinate resolution of vendor quantity issues (commodity specialist, supplier, product lines and design engineering).
  • ​Monitor and approve the use of non-standard components.
  • ​Maintain and control the use and replenishment of supply items.
  • ​Prepare and monitor the purchasing and supplies budget.
  • ​Update and implement the area's policies and procedures to ensure the company's goals and objectives.
  • ​Propose strategies to comply with the company's business plans.

Skills / Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in materials directly or indirectly as a planner, buyer or an equivalent combination of education and experience with logistics departments.
  • Valid passport and visa required.
  • Knowledge of supply chain/procurement and inventory management.
  • Use and management of ERP, SAP or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001.
  • Fluent English to lead business and negotiation discussions.
  • Knowledge of Logistics / Inbound Customs for the supply of materials to Mexico, the United States and Asia, as well as in quality and production issues.
  • Certification or basic knowledge of APICS, having completed at least 3 modules.
  • Leadership skills, ability and experience in personnel management, results-oriented and teamwork-oriented, analytical, organized and proactive.
  • Knowledge of the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office programs (advanced Excel).
  • Interested in building a professional career in materials, logistics, commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, positive attitude, ability to solve problems in a rigorous manner, organized and efficient in the planning and execution of complex and multifunctional projects.
  • Analytical capacity, self-motivated, proven skills to be a proactive person who generates ideas to solve material problems and find alternatives while working with different colleagues.
  • Document control warehouse management
  • Management of engineering changes, drawings and bills of materials
