Job Description

We are on the lookout for a strategic Data Center Strategic Operations Lead (DCSO) who thrives on forecasting and strategizing for the future. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our Data Center Engineering teams to develop and maintain an 8-quarter roadmap, focusing on the scaling of Compute, Storage, and Network resources to meet future demands efficiently. This role requires a forward-thinker who not only excels in the physical realm of data center operations but also has a keen understanding of cloud solutions, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. You will lead a team responsible for managing Reserved Instances (RIs) and ensuring our IT infrastructure aligns with our growth trajectory.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Data Center Engineering teams to create and implement an 8-quarter capacity and resource scaling roadmap.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure and DEVOPS teams to ensure the timely and efficient deployment of Compute, Storage, and Network resources according to forecasted demand.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of both physical data center operations and cloud-based solutions, making strategic decisions on when and how to utilize Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud to optimize operations.
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for the oversight of Reserved Instances (RIs) and other financial and operational cloud management activities.
  • Continuously assess and adjust strategies to align with evolving technological landscapes and organizational needs.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior management on data center and cloud infrastructure planning, cost optimization, and capacity management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of network, system engineering experience in a large-scale 24/7 data center environment, with at least 2 years in a management position​
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team of 10 or more personnel performing Network Support, Server and Storage Operations and Administration, and Disaster Recovery requirements​
  • In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure technology projects, including Mainframe, Unix, Windows Server, enterprise storage, networking equipment​
  • Proven experience in Data Center Operations, with a strong background in both physical and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term strategic roadmaps and execute plans that align with organizational growth and demand.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and experience managing cloud resources and financial instruments like Reserved Instances (RIs).
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with engineering and IT departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to forecast future needs and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
