Essential Functions
- Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Helps maintain proper storage, packaging, and quantities of inventory throughout the hospital.
- Participates in the maintenance of proper computer medication profiles, daily reports, and billing of medications.
- Refills Pyxis Med Stations accurately and timely.
- Prepares sterile products under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Performs unit medication inspections.
- Maintains pharmacy technician certifications.
RequirementsHigh school graduate or GED equivalent.
The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. The Technician must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Pharmacy technician certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or equivalent, is required within one year of employment if not received by date of hire.
Preferred Experience, Skills And AbilitiesCompetency in sterile product and chemotherapy preparation.
Previous experience as a pharmacy technician, hospital preferred but not required.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively work through problems.
