Job Overview:

This position will manage health and safety in the North America region including plant operations, construction services, commissioning services, and service department. This role will ensure consistency with Safety standards, policies, and procedures and develop training and auditing processes to ensure the highest standard of safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsibilities:
    • Maintain a tenacious attitude and unwavering commitment to drive Anaergia’s recordable and loss time injuries to zero.
    • Establish a culture of “safety always” across Anaergia’s North American operations.
    • Develop and maintain a suite of corporate safety policies applicable to both plant operations as well as project execution (construction, commissioning, & service).
    • Identify and implement a root cause analysis program across the Anaergia North American operations.
    • Identify and implement an incident investigation program across the Anaergia North American operations.
    • Work with department managers and site leads to develop “Issues & Actions” trackers for each operating facility and active projects within the project execution department.
    • Assist transitioning facilities from commissioning to plant operations.
    • Identify and implement a company wide safety metric’s tracking program.
    • Implement a formal safety awards & recognition program.
    • Participate in companywide meetings, conferences, etc. to train, teach, and provide updates regarding company safety policies, programs, and initiatives.
    • Conduct Annual review of all Operating Facility and Project execution site’s safety inspection procedures, records, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
    • Drafting, reviewing, and approving safety standard operating procedures for plant operations, construction services, commissioning services, and service department.
    • Conduct safety compliance audits on site at each Operating Facility and Project Execution site, on request but no less than annually to determine rather established protocols are being followed and identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Working closely with the regional staff reporting dotted line to this position to ensure that:
      • All personal protective equipment are calibrated and in compliance, all proper signages are installed at the right locations and in the right format.
      • Identification, recording, and reporting of
        • Unsafe acts or working conditions at workplace.
        • Physical, biological, and chemical workplace hazards.
      • investigate and report health and safety related complaints, spill of chemicals, workplace incidents and near misses.
      • Investigate accidents that have occurred within their assigned incident areas. This may include interviewing witnesses, reviewing security footage, and gathering other evidence. The goal is to determine what happened and why, so that future accidents can be prevented.
      • Yearly process risk assessment is conducted, and preventive measures are identified for each operating facility.
      • Site-specific training calendar and the training record is always kept up to date.
      • The site inspection protocol, check sheets, inspection records, findings along with preventive and corrective solutions is always kept up to date.
      • SDS is kept up to date.
      • Training and supporting effective emergency response efforts, if required.
      • Reviews and approves all contractor’s safety plans that are or will be working at the operating facilities or company project sites.
      • Responding to employees’ safety concerns and issues. Ensure that the workplace is safe for all workers and that any potential hazards are addressed.
    • Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs (velocity EHS) for new inductions as well as for recurring trainings to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
    • Ensure the proper reporting, investigation, and corrective action for accidents, personal injury accidents, property damage, near-miss incidents, and customer incidents.
    • Advise management on the company’s compliance with Safety laws and regulations through detailed monthly reports.
    • Complete safety and compliance reports in a timely fashion.
    • Review and provide recommendations on site safety audits including corrective or preventative measures and work with regional director of operations, and project management leads to develop and implement improvements. Create and track progress of effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and noncompliance
    • Demonstrates and applies OSHA regulations and standards and leverages guidelines and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead, develop, and maintain safety initiatives and programs including those related to site permitting, chemical inventory and handling, equipment installation and operation, and employee training.

Q ualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Certified Safety Officer and/or Industrial Hygienist.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Extensive experience in Plant Operations.
  • Experience with Cal-OSHA is a plus.
  • Experience in the construction or service industry is a plus.

Travel is expected up to 50%
