Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients. They monitor patients' vital signs, administer medications, and collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and monitor patients' condition and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Monitor and interpret patients' vital signs.
4. Assist with procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and ventilator management.
5. Educate patients and their families on care plans and post-discharge instructions.
6. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
8. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care or ICU nursing.
4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Team player with a positive attitude.
8. Proficient in using electronic medical records systems.
