ANDERSON HOWARD is Hiring an Electrical Estimator Near Irvine, CA

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing all facets of the bid process to successfully complete the bid package and develop a pipeline of healthy work that feeds the business of the company. You will be the primary point of contact who collaborates with vendors, subcontractors, and clients related to bids. Are you a meticulous

ADAPTABLE WITH A LEARNER MINDSET. You have the ability to switch gears quickly, juggle multiple priorities, and are ready to wear multiple hats. You ask essential questions and are driven to learn new and complex aspects of the industry.

METICULOUS AND PROCESS ORIENTED. You ensure that every minuscule detail is accurate and correct so that the bid packages are thorough and clear. You follow processes and look for ways to improve them.

SELF DRIVEN AND A COLLABORATIVE TEAM PLAYER. You take initiative on tasks throughout the day, being proactive when faced with competing deadlines on varying bids and tasks. You can work well with others and are always willing to help the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

30-45 days and ongoing:

● Learns about the relationships this role has with project management, operations, subcontractors, vendors and clients.

● Becomes familiar with Accubid, LiveCount, Bluebeam and how the estimating team utilizes it by shadowing a more seasoned team member.

● Learns to analyze department data and how it applies to bids by shadowing the Estimating Manager or another seasoned Estimator on the team and asking insightful questions.

3 months and ongoing:

● Leads the estimation/bid process on 1-2 projects (varies in size) from start to finish (between $1MM-$5MM).

● Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter (per project), blue sheets, evaluations with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rates and productivity with little to no guidance.

● Mentors and leads 1-2 Junior Estimators and delegate tasks to utilize resources effectively. Conducts regular follow-up to ensure clear expectations.

6 months and ongoing:

● Has won at least 1 project that a bid was created for and is able to manage smaller projects (less than $10MM ) from start to finish.

● Actively seeks out training opportunities to work on more complex projects and troubleshooting tactics that are unknown or unpracticed.

● Begins to mentor and coach other less experienced team members, and is open to taking on a mentorship role within the organization.

12 months and ongoing:

● Manages larger projects ($10MM ) from start to finish and shows the ability to take on more complex projects as needed.

● Fully independent and displays the ability to use sound judgment and proactively considers how to best support the team by taking the initiative to help teach and build up others.

● Is able to manage 3-5 projects varying by size and complexity.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

✔ 5 years of experience of electrical estimating experience related to commercial and/or industrial projects

required

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/Mathematics/Statistics/Economics preferred

✔ Proven experience with estimating projects valued at $5MM or above required

✔ Proficiency in Accubid or similar estimation software highly preferred

✔ Proficiency in LiveCount on-screen take-off software highly preferred

✔ Strong time management and organizational skills a must

✔ Excellent writing and verbal communication skills a must

✔ Ability to multitask with excellent follow-through skills a must

✔ Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, formulas), Word, and Outlook

required

✔ Proven ability using basic math skills

required

✔ Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar editing software preferred

✔ Desire to learn and grow personally and professionally highly preferred
