ABOUT THE JOB
The Assistant Controller is a vital member within our Accounting and Finance Team and will offer essential support to the Controller. You will enhance the firm's accounting operations with efficiency and accuracy. Your responsibilities will include supporting general account management, formulating and reviewing internal controls, conducting reconciliations, and preparing and analyzing financial statements. Additionally, you will be the key expert in our project-based ERP software, Deltek VantagePoint by driving its optimal use and integration across the team.
This position requires a presence at our corporate offices in Portland, OR, with an on-site presence of at least three days per week.

What will you do in this role?
You will...

• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Responsible for the integrity and reporting of monthly financial statements, complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Responsible for the daily monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing of the inflow and outflow of cash.
• Prepare timely and insightful financial analysis with emphasis on monthly financial statement variances versus budget, forecast, and prior year.
• Monitor key financial and operational metrics to determine progress against strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Assist in the creation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts.
• Work with the CFO to identify opportunities for profitability enhancement.
• Manage a high-performance team, set individual goals, provide regular feedback, and create opportunities for development.
• Works with external auditors and provide necessary information for annual audits.
• Establishes a quality partnership with the human resources team on facilitation, audit, and review of the Firm's ESOP, 401(k), and other benefit programs.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Compliance and Auditing

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and procedures related to payroll and project accounting.
• Assist in auditing processes related to payroll and projects, providing necessary documentation and explanations for auditors.

Leadership & Mentorship Responsibilities:

• No team members will report directly to this role at this time, but this role is expected to assist the Controller to train, influence and mentor all members of the Accounting Team

What you bring to be successful:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proficiency in utilizing ERP systems (DelTek VantagePoint a plus!) for accounts payable and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and experience in project accounting are advantageous.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A/C/E experience preferred.
