Program: Energy Assistance Programs
JOB TITLE: Client Service Representative
REPORTS TO: Director of Energy
SUPERVISES: N/A
General Purpose of Position:
The purpose for the Client Service Representative position is to provide initial contact with clients; inform clients of program: determine eligibility: verify and document information provided.
Essential Duties:
1. Interview clients requesting assistance with fuel bills and earmark emergency
applications for immediate attention.
2. Enter applications into OHEP and Empowor
3. Compute household incomes using prescribed mathematical formulas and initial determination of benefit levels using standard matrixes.
4. Set up records: prepare reports and correspondence, i.e. daily dental log and letters to clients, etc.
5. Complete client intake form and forward to appropriate staff for documentation and certification process.
6. Collect all proof of income and assist clients in obtaining additional information when necessary.
7. Receive phone calls communications with other energy related resources.
8. Make preliminary determination of eligibility to clients and accurately relay program information about requirements, ect.
9. Certify application as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Must have 2-3 years clerical experience and 2-3 years’ experience in direct communication with the public in disseminating or receiving specialized or technical information.
Experience in the human service industry.
Must be able to work under pressure and deal effectively with the public.
Skills and Abilities
Requires working knowledge of social service available in the community, or ability to rapidly acquire such information.
Must have the ability to obtain and record accurate information during an interview.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
Must demonstrate good interpersonal and customer service skills with clients.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft office and other computer applications.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to effectively deal with a diverse group of external callers and visitors as well as internal contact at all levels of the organization.
Must have good time management skills.
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
