Antelope Valley Medical Center is Hiring a Disaster Preparedness/EOC Coordinator - Disaster Preparedness - Full Time/Varied - Req#1996803098 Near Lancaster, CA

Job Objective:

The Disaster Preparedness Coordinator will assist the Director of Emergency Management, Environment Of Care, Safety Officer in all emergency management and Environment of Care related duties. Will interface with hospital staff and management, as well as Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) Grant Program participants and local city Emergency Management Program representatives. Must be able to travel to HPP Grant/Disaster Resource Center (DRC) meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend HPP Grant/DRC meetings as needed.
  • Assist with completion of annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis as well as the annual updates to the Emergency Management Plan.
  • Attend Environment of Care Committee meetings, Emergency Management Committee meetings and conduct disaster program/safety rounds.
  • Conduct decontamination training as well as safety in-services for emergency management programs, including monthly exercises, schedule new member training/competency, decontamination trailer maintenance, equipment/supply inventory maintenance, storage and upkeep, recruiting members including Hospital Emergency Response Training (HERT) certifications with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  • Assist in chemical and Safety Data Sheet audits to maintain current inventory.
  • Assist with preparation for The Joint Commission and Los Angeles county Emergency Medical Services agency Emergency Management surveys and other regulatory agency requirements pertaining to the department
  • Conduct inventory of disaster program, equipment and supplies, including inventory, maintenance, routine, physical checks, monthly Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) maintenance, resource management with Materials Management to rotate cache, coordination with Facilities, IT, Security, Engineering to grant/control access.
  • Participate in hospital, HPP Grant, and statewide drills, including the necessary, physical prep work, acting as additional evaluator when needed, and scribe during hot wash, documenting overall flow of drills/exercise with timestamps.
  • Assist with managing the Disaster, Trauma/Burn Surge inventory; coordinating with Central Supply for the rotation of items to avoid expiration.
  • Report into the hospital during real events and assist with setting up the Hospital Command Center, complete After Action reports.
  • Participate in the local city Emergency Management meetings.
  • Assist with Business Continuity plans.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Take notes during meetings to develop minutes.
  • Compile and maintain physical hardcopy binders.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Mass casualty, triage, ICS 100, 200 and 700.
  • CMS/Joint Commission standards relating to Environmental of Care and Emergency Management familiarity with HAZMAT gear and HAZWOPER standards of Emergency Management

Skills

  • Familiarity with hospital incident command system.
  • Exhibits presentation skills with large and small audiences.
  • Proper communication skills to assure correct recordkeeping.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.

Education and Experience:

Education

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.

Experience

  • One year hospital experience, Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness, Decontamination Team experience.

Required Licensure and/or Certifications:

  • FEMA HERT Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
