Antelope Valley Medical Center is Hiring a Gift Shop Coordinator - Retail - Full Time/Days - Req#1996807974 Near Lancaster, CA

Job Objective:

Under the director of the Director of Volunteer Services (DVS), assist the DVS with eh management of the gift shops and maintaining financial records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Management
    • Maintains daily and weekly schedules of Volunteers to ensure the shops are open and volunteers are communicating time-off needs, along with the Volunteer Coordinators.
    • Trains and retains gift shop volunteers on policies and procedures
    • Helps DVS create and maintain training manual, competency forms, and service descriptions
    • Assists DVS complete annual competencies and evaluations on all gift shop volunteers
    • Effectively works with diversity of volunteers
    • Demonstrates knowledge regarding special needs and behaviors of age specific groups.
    • Participates in age specific and cultural diversity educational training programs
  • Financial reconciliation and reporting
    • Reconcile the daily cashier deposits
    • Reconcile the daily deposits
    • Maintain safe and change boxes balances and reporting
    • Prepares and maintains all financial records of the gift shops. Prepares sales reports, expense reports, inventory reports and stock rotation reports
    • Follows all hospital policies regarding the handling and movement of money
  • Retail Store Management
    • Helps the DVS purchase merchandise and track sales of products
    • Rotates stock and reorders as necessary with proper approvals
    • Ensures a safe, clean, high quality environment
    • Maintains excellent customer and volunteer relationships
    • Handles phone inquiries from staff, visitors and volunteers
    • Attends seminars, gift shows, and conventions relating to gift shops. As assigned by DVS
    • Assists the DVS with product pricing, displaying, sales, sales promotions, and rotation of product
    • Assists DVS create gift shop policies and procedures.
    • Manages the annual schedule of Vendors sales, manages conference room availability and that vendors have completed required documentation.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Distribute mail, answer phones, handle front office in the absence of the Volunteer Coordinators

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of purchasing department practices and procedures.

  • Demonstrated Clerical skills related to front office activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Point of Sale System, and cash register system.
  • Demonstrated experience with Inventory and product pricing.
  • Experience with merchandising and displays.
    • Demonstrated financial understanding of Profit / Loss statements.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and strong communication skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in building and leading effective teams from recruiting and retention.
    • Demonstrated proficient Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and Power Point.

Education and Experience:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some coursework in business related field is preferred.
  • Must be available to work various hours, days, and holidays.

Experience

  • One to three years prior retail management experience in a specialty retail environment is required
  • A minimum of one year managing volunteers is required
  • Experience with multi-store management preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift
  • Requires lifting, moving, rearranging weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires walking between buildings and moving merchandise back and forth.
  • Requires moving merchandise from where house to both shops.
