The Senior Packaging Engineer will facilitate the design, development, and testing of packaging for the company’s transcatheter heart valve and delivery systems. This position works alongside a team of engineers but will be the sole engineer responsible for packaging.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize packaging, including new product launches and existing products throughout all stages of product development; from concept to launch, including clinical trials, global and limited market releases, as well as key operations initiatives
• Manage moderately complex project plans with input from cross-functional team members and outside suppliers of materials and services
• Create and communicate design/test plans, tasks, deliverables, and status. Manages time and resources to meet committed schedule milestones.
• Develop protocols for, and implement, package design, packaging process validation, and package shelf-life testing, as well as driving new packaging technologies and strategies
• Follow documented design processes to meet regulatory and company requirements.
• Create and release design control documentation, written procedures, and reports
• Work with suppliers to ensure components meet design requirements & diagnose design problems
• Perform design transfer from R&D to manufacturing

Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline; Packaging Engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience

• Experience with 3D modeling software, i.e. SolidWorks and/or Creo
• Experience designing and developing packaging for medical devices
• Experience with Design Verification planning, testing and reports
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
• Experience creating technical, written content 
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and creating Bill of Materials
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and methodologies
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality assurance, reliability assurance, clinical, risk management
