Position Description: JOB SUMMARY
The V.P. Operations Salt Lake City Branch is primarily responsible and accountable for all aspects of branch operations including client relationships, financial performance, project execution and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Delivers branch contribution margin to meet or beat annual Plan.
    • Ensures accurate submission of annual, monthly, and biweekly forecasts.
    • Provides leadership with updates as significant changes occur.
    • Identifies, manages, and reports on special/high impact projects.
    • Controls overhead (both labor overhead and non-labor overhead) per the forecast/ plan.
    • Maintains an execution plan for all stop-work conditions: excessive account(s) receivables and insufficient funding.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops team members to enable superior performance and ensure all work product and behaviors align with Anvils culture, Code of Ethics, and quality standards.
    • Ensures all branch activities are performed safely (0 Loss Time Incidents, 0 Recordables).
    • Supports our strategic aspiration to be known as Experts of Choice in Engineering, Design, Procurement, Project Controls, and Project Management.
    • Promotes a culture of teamwork and collaboration while providing a Total Client Experience through delivering high quality technical projects that have great project management governance.
  • Develops new strategic engagements that will expand and strengthen Anvil portfolio of Core Clients.
    • Maintains and deepens relationships of existing Anvil Core Client base resulting in quantifiable hours booked into backlog.
    • Maintains Client Action Plan for all emerging and established clients.
    • Collaborates with Business Development staff to analyze the regions markets for incorporation into Anvils business strategy.
    • Works closely with the Program Managers and Business Development & Marketing Manager to deliver solutions to clients concerns.
    • Achieves highest level of client satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-engagement.
  • Leads all client contract negotiations related to the branch. Collaborates and partners with the President, COO, CFO, Program Managers, Manager of Resources, and Business Development & Marketing Manager to ensure all contract provisions and deliverables are acceptable.
    • Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; ensuring pricing and margins are acceptable.
    • Partners with CFO to ensure compliance of all contract provisions and terms
  • Oversees all project operations to ensure proper planning and performance of the work.
    • Represents Anvil in the office and the community.
    • Maintains relationships with clients in the region.
    • Advocates innovation and quality in all designs.
    • Monitors project performance and makes performance adjustments, as required.
    • Minimizes risk by managing scope, change management, and funding.
    • Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of schedule of project completion dates.
    • Ensures that projects are completed within budget and in an economical manner.
    • Promotes Anvils strategies and is a leader of change at the location. Leads integration with all other Anvil locations.
    • May act for Resource Managers as agreed for recruiting, hiring, terminations, reviews, and other management activities.
  • Monitors Program Managers to ensure authorized funding limits are not exceeded.
    • Ensures appropriate advanced approvals have been obtained whenever client funding is within 20% of total budget
    • Quickly resolves billing issues and works directly with clients to expedite late payments.
    • Manages Non-Revenue Billing (NRB) to meet or beat annual Plan.
  • Runs the branch office (facilities, etc.).
    • Manages and maintains Anvil's facilities, equipment, and materials. Responsible for costs required to run the branch.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic business understanding of how a branch operation makes money.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering theory and design criteria.
  • Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline required; masters degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of related engineering experience required.
  • Professional Engineering license a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to sit/stand, type, and perform computer work for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for computer entry.
  • Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
