Position Summary:
The Fatherhood Instructor plans and facilitates Any Baby Can’s Nurturing Fathers parenting education classes. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling with the goal of encouraging successful, supportive fathers in the family environment where all members can feel successful in achieving their goals to improve communication and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and lead (and/or co-facilitate) assigned parenting classes and individual parenting sessions.
- Be familiar with and utilize in fidelity the selected and approved curricula for each class subject matter.
- Co-host Fathers Parent Cafes targeting dads in our programs.
- Be familiar with and able to utilize Zoom and other teleconferencing software as a virtual classroom platform.
- Employ numerous instructional strategies and align instruction with different learning styles in mind.
- Work collaboratively with partner agency staff to coordinate continuum of care for fathers enrolled in parenting education program.
- Greet participants and ensure a positive, welcoming environment for learning.
- Input required data, as needed, into the agency and grantor’s client tracking database.
- Research and share resources with the class participants.
- Set-up and take-down of the parent classroom; assist with general clean-up, storage of furniture, equipment, and materials, as necessary.
- Perform, or assist with, outreach to promote upcoming classes, Parent Cafes, or agency services.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications for infants, children, and adults.
- Complete professional development trainings and attend monthly team meetings, as requested.
- Submit all agency and program paperwork within deadlines.
- Other assignments may be added as needed or required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, childhood development, social work or related field with at least 2 years relevant, professional experience preferred; experience may be substituted for education as appropriate.
- Fluent language skills in Spanish preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with demonstrated organizational skills.
- Knowledge of and experience working with low-income, diverse and underserved populations with an ability to establish rapport with clients
- Able to perform duties in a manner that respects ethnic, cultural and language diversity.
- Demonstrated competence and confidence in working with parents and children of all ages, together as a family; comfortable working with parents possessing various parenting styles
- Skilled in reacting to change productively and handling other essential tasks as assigned.
- Proven ability to make appropriate decisions while working independently, as well as an active and collaborative team member.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with a familiarity of database applications.
Special Considerations:
- Must have reliable transportation to travel within the assigned region; if driving own vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary to fulfill daily duties assigned.
- Ability to effectively/clearly communicate.
Salary : $44,000 - $46,000
