Provide proficient piano accompaniment for the assembly and cantor/choir for the Sunday morning masses (start times 10AM and 12:00PM) as well as masses supporting Lent and Holy Week in accordance with liturgical guidelines of the Catholic Church.

Essential Functions:

• Accompany cantor/choir for masses and liturgical holidays according to agreed-upon schedule between incumbent and Director of Choir.
• Arrive for Masses and devotions sufficiently in advance to go over any music with cantor/choir as requested, without detracting from the quiet prayer of the assembly.
• Attend rehearsal times on instrument as directed by the Director of Choir.
• Continuously update professional competence and liturgical education as needed. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

• Education and/or experience in Catholic liturgy and liturgical documents on sacred music; instrumental proficiency in piano.
• Virtus training must be completed and kept up to date.
• Ability to work with Director of Choir, cantors and choir to ensure that they are well prepared for weekend Masses, Holy Days (Christmas, Holy Week, Easter) and devotions.
• Ability to accept constructive feedback from others, e.g. Director of Choir and Pastor, and incorporate their recommendations into the performance of job duties.
• Strong awareness of the role of the accompanist at Catholic liturgies: ability to determine if instrument is too loud or too soft and adjust; accordingly, ability to play instrument at proper tempo and with a level of proficiency that encourages assembly to sing and that adds to the sense of the sacred
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills to perform job duties.
