Description

Purpose of Position: To carry out the major responsibilities for an assigned age group of children on a daily basis. The child caregiver plans, implements and guides activities for the character, social-emotional, physical, cognitive and language development of children. Related duties are also performed as necessary and as specified by the Director.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Report to work promptly according to assigned schedule and center policies; no call, no show, no job
• Refrain from cell phone use while supervising children;
• Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of the children at all times as individuals and as a group; maintain Proper class ratio;
• Plan daily program (developmental activities) in detail for assigned age group; submit weekly lesson plans due by Thursday of each week;
• Post classroom schedule in required area of parent review;
• Assist with academic development including homework completion if applicable
• Carry out the daily program being flexible according to children’s needs and/or interests;
• Decorate the room with bulletin boards, children’s artwork, etc.; submit supply list as needed allowing enough time for delivery;
• Place toys and materials at children’s level for their easy access;
• Assist in serving meals/snacks and sit with children while they eat;
• Check toys and equipment daily/weekly for their safe usage;
• Clean/disinfect the work environment including all equipment/toys daily according to center policies.
• Be familiar with and follow all center and State regulatory policies and procedures;
• Report any special needs/problems of individual children to the Director/Assistant Director in a timely fashion;
• Communicate professionally and effectively with parents avoiding conflicts at all times
• Report to Director/Asst. Director any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect;
• Attend regular staff meetings;
• Handle discipline according to center and regulatory policies;
• Perform duties as a team member carrying out additional assignments as requested by Director/Asst. Director;
• Maintain BFTS hours 18 hours annual training;
