Apex Systems is Hiring a Global Practice Manager Near Minneapolis, MN

Apex Systems is currently assisting our engineering client in their search for their new Global Practice Manager, within their Manufacturing and Global Facilities Practice. This role will be overseeing construction projects, while also doing construction design work. This role is a FULL TIME role working directly for our client. Job Title: Global Practice Manager- Manufacturing/Global Facilities

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Job Type: Full Time/Direct Hire

Compensation: 300K-350K in Total Compensation, Negotiated between candidate and employer.

Summary

  • Provide the leadership to grow the region’s Global Facilities (GFS) practice with a focus in the manufacturing market lanes. This includes food and consumer products, life science device and other manufacturers, in a dynamic and profitable manner based upon core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.
  • The Manager will directly oversee the design build business including: sales, recruiting, business plan development, and growth plan for the selected region including, risk management, staff development project delivery and profitable project execution.
  • Duties also include building an outstanding team, ensuring profitable and sound growth, leading sales & marketing activities, ensuring that the Quality Control program is adhered to, maintaining safety program, developing long-term strategic planning, providing risk management, staff development training programs, developing outstanding client relationships, and serving as project principal on our key projects and design-build projects. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by executive management:

Business Expansion:

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of the strategic business plan to develop and expand the firm’s global facilities practice in areas of service and expertise within the region. This includes creating new EPC project opportunities and expanding existing relationships within the regional and national marketplace.
  • Determine, prioritize, and organize client relationships opportunities, and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.
  • Determine direction and lead market awareness, including involvement in professional associations, technical articles, conferences, and boards.
  • Identify and support the recruitment of key individuals necessary to grow the practice area and support key GFS national initiatives.
  • Partner with GFS national practice team to develop business.
  • Partner with other Burns & McDonnell Regional and Branch Offices in facilitating strong working relationships and share in business development.

Project Execution:

  • Establish project teams and coordinate activities of all resources required to support the developed services.
  • Serve as technical specialist and advisor for project team(s).
  • Ensure that the review process and other quality control guidelines are effectively implemented.
  • Partner with GFS national practice team to develop business.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership to enable group to consistently attain long-term profitable growth in meeting and exceeding parameters and criteria developed each year in our Business Plan. This begins each year with the development of the GFS GP Business Plan, setting high goals, and then exceeding expectations in terms of business parameters, staffing, sales, and long-term office development. Provide leadership to help staff reach their maximum performance potential.
  • Recruit, develop, train, and retain staff.
  • Assign work and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
  • Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of organization to staff.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Prepare and monitor department budget and expenditure of funds for staff hours, supplies, training, and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program and 10 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the consulting engineering industry or project management required.
  • At least 3 years successful management of projects, which would include proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination strongly preferred.
  • Expert experience in client and business development.
  • Expert experience in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.
  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
  • Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.
