Apex Systems is Hiring a Laboratory Technician Near Waltham, MA

Here are the details:

Position: Lab Technician

Location: 266 2nd Ave, Waltham MA 02451

Rate: negotiable based on experience

Duration: 3-4-month contract (likely to extend, usually will convert to perm)

Lab Technician

Position Description:

  • Responsible for specimen processing and test performance.
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintain records of patient test results.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant, or Laboratory Director.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Except as specified in the qualifications, perform high complexity testing only under the onsite direct supervision of a qualified Supervisor.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in CLIA/CAP- processing patient samples- and manual molecular biology techniques, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, with pipetting at the very least.
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, chemical, physical or biological science and have at least one year of relevant full-time laboratory experience and/or training subsequent to graduation OR have successfully completed three years of academic study in an accredited college or university.

Desired Skills:

  • Current certification or eligible with ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) as an MLS – Medical Laboratory Scientist, MT – Medical Technologist, MLT-Medical Laboratory Technician, MB- Molecular Biology or specialist.
