Job title: Linux Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA-In beginning 2 days a week onsite, may decrease with time
Type: Contract
Contract length: (up to) 18 months
Interview process: 1 virtual IV- 2 hour panel IV
Citizenship: USC/GC on w2 (no c2c or c2h for w2 purposes)
Screenings: Background once hired
Pay: starts at $65 /hour- we have flexibility with rate (based on expereince, tenure, etc)
Start date: ASAP-2 weeks or less from offer
: weekly pay, optional benefits, 15 days of pto a year (accrues 1.5 a week/can use AFTER 90 days of work), federal holidays off (unpaid on contract)
Candidate Requirements
• Years of Experience Required: 10 overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required:
o Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
o Linux and administration (10 years of expereince)
o Systems automation using shell, python or other similar languages (8 years of expereince)
o Fundamental cloud knowledge (1 years of expereince) - this is needed so they can communicate with cloud-focused colleagues to get tasks done
• Disqualifiers:
o If the candidate doesn't have recent experience with Linux
• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain the below:
o Experience in EDA (electronic design automation) industry
o SLURM scheduler experience
o Deploying Linux services on cloud IAAS infrastructure
• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on
o Quality of work and completeness of documentation received
• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is providing engineering focused IT services to Microsoft's azure developers - specifically for developers of Chips.
• Key projects: They have a pair of services developed in Azure. Azure services all connected to work together with some infrastructure as a service to further develop the flow. These were developed with a team that no longer exists. This individual will work together with another individual to reverse-engineer these services to document and bring them to a portable state and be able to provide training on how they work to long-term support teams.
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of
o 12.5% meetings, 87.5% heads down.

Summary:
The main function of a Service Engineer is to design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialized utility programs including mainframe and client/server applications, and major enhancement of existing systems
Job Responsibilities:
• Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects
• Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet client needs and data
• Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications
• Implement system software and customize to client requirements
• Prepare the detailed software specifications and test plans
• Code new programs to clients specifications and create test data for testing
• Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs
• Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation
• Provide quality assurance reviews
• Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
• 10 years experience required
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
• large systems software design and development experience
• Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems
