Microbiology Lab Technician I
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Growing personal care product company is expanding their Microbiology team! This position will include micro testing in a high-volume working environment for stability testing and quality assurance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

• Handwrite receipt of incoming samples in appropriate laboratory log book, Microbiological Raw Data Sheet.
• Perform microbiology analysis on finished products, raw ingredients and in-process materials (i.e., aerobic plate count, yeast/mold count, lactic acid bacteria count, presence/absence of pathogenic bacteria) to ensure conformance with required specification following defined cultural techniques and procedures.
• Conduct routine sampling and testing to monitor microbiological quality and safety of the purified water system.
• Assist in determining microbial content and identify microorganisms from finish products, raw materials, purified water samples, surface swabs, air quality check samples.
• Dispose of all microbiological contaminant in biohazard bag, sterilize and discard in proper waste basket.
• Perform weekly, monthly, bi-annually Microbiology Lab cleaning.
• Update microbiology lab testing database weekly.
• Operate and use sterilizer, pipetting device, and microscope.
• Use company-approved personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for various tasks.
• Work in a safe manner at all times, complying with safety, health, environmental, food and drug regulations and company policies.

• Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.

• All other duties as assigned.
• Fill in for Microbiology Lab Lead and Microbiologist II when needed.
• Clean testing surfaces.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

• Understanding of microbiological testing procedures.
• Completion of basic microbiology courses.
• Familiar with Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
• Good visual observation skills.
• Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Able to follow Standard Operation Procedures.
• Ability to multi task.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

• Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or related field required.
• Completion of basic microbiology course(s) required along with knowledge of sterile technique.
