Location: Albany, GA
Shift: 2:30p-11p. M-F, on call every 5 weeks Contract: 18 Weeks
Pay Package: Travel Rate: $40/hr on W2 $1162(Weekly non taxable stipend)
Weekly Gross: $2762 Job Description: Job Summary:The CT Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography equipment. The role involves preparing patients, operating CT scanners, and ensuring high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. The CT Technician works closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely imaging services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation:
- Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, answering questions, and positioning them correctly on the examination table.
- Verify patient identity and medical history, and ensure proper documentation.
- Imaging Procedures:
- Operate CT scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Adjust and maintain equipment settings to ensure optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Image Quality and Evaluation:
- Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring they meet diagnostic standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists to determine if additional images or procedures are necessary.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of imaging procedures and patient data.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on CT scanners and other imaging equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the imaging area.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to discuss patient care and imaging results.
- Provide support and assistance during complex procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide instructions and reassurance.
- Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Certification from an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in CT (Computed Tomography) (or eligibility).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience:
- Prior experience as a CT Technician is preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an asset.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in operating CT scanners and understanding of radiographic procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move patients as needed.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle instruments.
- Work may involve exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
- Must adhere to standard precautions and safety protocols.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
