Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to ensure optimal outcomes. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, and the capability to handle complex medical conditions, including cardiac monitoring.

Must float to like units, If staff float to ICU or ED it is to care for Med/Surg level patients or be helping hands. Will not practice outside of scope

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment and Care Planning:
• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' health status.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Monitor and document patients' conditions and responses to treatment.
• Clinical Skills and Procedures:
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures.
• Operate and monitor medical equipment, including telemetry monitors.
• Patient Monitoring:
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patients' conditions.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide timely interventions.
• Patient and Family Education:
• Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
• Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences.
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in [State].
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a MedSurg or Telemetry unit preferred.
• New graduates with strong clinical skills and a willingness to learn will be considered.
• Certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Skills:
• Proficient in the use of telemetry monitoring systems.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced, high-acuity unit.
• Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Manual dexterity for operating medical equipment.
