Appalachian Community Services (ACS) an ncgCARE partner, provides mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental disability services to individuals and families within the seven western counties of North Carolina. These services include counseling and psychiatry, substance use treatment, mobile and residential crisis stabilization, intensive in-home, community support teams, peer support, and group homes.

Location: Waynesville, NC

We are seeking both a full-time Registered Nurse to provide the following services:

• Ability to work with individuals who experience symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse/dependence, including consumers with a co-occurring developmental disability.
• Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of theory, practices, principles, and techniques of the nursing profession; ability to understand, interpret and relate oral and written instructions; ability to explain medical instructions in consumer and their families/ some ability to organize and supervise the work of other professional and nonprofessional employees; considerable knowledge of the area of work and medications; ability to gain the confidence of patients and to work effectively with them.
• Assist consumers in gaining skills to address problems.
• Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team approach.
• Ability to set limits and maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of persons or families served.

Qualifications:

• North Carolina License to practice as a Registered Nurse or LPN.
