Our client is a reputable law firm dedicated to providing top-notch legal services to our clients. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Legal File Clerk to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong organizational skill set and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Position Summary:
The Legal File Clerk will be responsible for managing and organizing legal documents, filing, and transporting legal documents to courthouses. This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for transportation of documents, with reimbursement provided for car expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, file, and maintain legal documents and records in both physical and electronic formats.
- Retrieve and deliver documents to various courthouses and other legal institutions as required.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all documents during transportation and handling.
- Assist legal staff with document preparation, copying, and scanning as needed.
- Keep accurate records of all files and documents delivered, including tracking mileage and expenses for reimbursement purposes.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting clients.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of filing and document management systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
- Previous experience in a legal or office environment is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for transporting documents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic knowledge of office equipment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry files and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Willingness to travel frequently to local courthouses and other legal institutions.
- Ability to keep meticulous records of mileage and expenses for reimbursement purposes.
