Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the Controller with a wide variety of functions which include ensuring
the daily activities of the AppleTree Institute accounting department run smoothly and efficiently. The
Staff Accountant will prepare financial reports and analysis to support senior management as well as
support the operation and administrative functions of the Finance team. The incumbent will work
closely with AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School (AELPCS) staff to promote AppleTree’s
Mission.
What you’ll do…
Prepare the monthly balance sheet and income statement.
Prepare supporting schedules for specific general ledger accounts; analyze and reconcile specified balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Monthly bank reconciliations.
Responsible for the intercompany expense reconciliation between AppleTree Institute (ATI) and AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School (AELPCS).
Manage the Expensify platform. This includes setting up users (employees only), approval routes and training staff. Expensify is used for company credit card transactions and employee reimbursements.
Manage the accounts payable platform -Anybill (accounts payable automated platform). This includes setting up vendors, users, approval routes, importing invoices for payment processing, reviewing and approving invoices to assure correct GL coding and managing voided checks.
Help maintain Sage Intaact (accounting software) by creating vendors, customers, and employee files for check/invoice processing.
Assist in audit preparations, gather necessary information and documents.
Generate 1099 and 1096 forms at the end of the calendar year.
Assist in monthly and ad-hoc reporting as required.
What we’re looking for…
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
● Minimum of three or more years experience in accounting or other related business areas. ● Demonstrated understanding of accounting practices and principles.
● Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Work, Google Apps.
● Proactive problem solving skills.
● Effective time management skills, self- motivated, critical attention to detail and deadlines. ● Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
● Self-motivated, high initiative and able to work with minimal supervision.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked and fast paced environment with firm deadlines. ● Experience with budget preparation and budgetary control.
● Experience with Sage Intaact-Accounting software, Anybill/Paypool, Expensify is a plus.
