Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an NDT (Nondestructive Testing) Supervisor, to lead our team in Indianapolis. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of our non-destructive testing operations, ensuring the highest quality standards and adherence to industry regulations.

Job Accountabilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of NDT technicians, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain NDT procedures in accordance with industry standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate NDT activities to meet project deadlines and production requirements.
  • Oversee the calibration and maintenance of NDT equipment.
  • Analyze NDT data and interpret results to identify potential defects.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate documentation of all NDT activities.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with NDT procedures and quality standards.
  • Interface with engineering, production, and quality control departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Stay up to date on the latest NDT technologies and advancements.
  • Perform basic NDT inspections on composite materials using established techniques, following procedures, and adhering to strict quality standards. (e.g., Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing)
  • Reviews work orders, test procedure sheets, and product acceptance criteria to determine test specifications.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct systems performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
  • Capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and level 1 personnel.
  • When specified in the written practice, be capable of developing work instructions from the approved general procedures. Such work instructions shall require final approval by a level 3 certified in the method.
  • Have a basic knowledge of the relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper handling and storage of NDT equipment.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job SpecificationsEducation: Requires a High School Diploma/GED or combination of relevant education and work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements only.Years’ Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in NDT, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Certification: Certification in multiple NDT methods relevant to composites (e.g., Ultrasonic Testing (UT), X-Ray Radiography (RT), Eddy Current Testing (ET)).

  • Demonstrated good judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Strong understanding of NDT principles and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and NDT data analysis software (a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Exhibits honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Office applications (Words, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) NDT data analysis software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2000 AS 9100B Quality Systems
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct internal audits and participate in cause & corrective action investigation.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen Events, and 6-S processes and procedures.
  • Synthesize complex and diverse information.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Possess excellent communication skills to convey information to customers and colleagues effectively.
  • Write coherently and informatively with edits for spelling and grammar.
  • Actively promote quality and compliance with established standards.
  • Effectively plan and prioritize work activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math, algebra and/or geometry.
  • Maintains a positive “can do” attitude.
  • A sense of urgency, good attention to detail, and follow-thru.
  • Ability to follow safety regulations.
  • Utilize Hi-lo & crane and other material handling equipment (i.e., forklift)
  • Ability and willingness to cross train other NDT methods
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods with crouching, kneeling, bending, and reaching.
