The Office of Research Protections (ORP) at Penn State, seeks a qualified candidate with a demonstrated commitment to leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration to serve as the University Export Control Officer (UECO) .
This position is located at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. This position will report to the Executive Director of Research Security and will supervise one compliance analyst and one part-time compliance analyst who will support the Export Control program.
Role and Responsibilities :
As an Empowered Official designated by federal regulations, you will hold signature authority for the University on all export control matters.
This includes international trade transactions, compliance issues, and investigations related to ITAR, EAR, and FACR regulations.
This encompasses developing, implementing, continuously monitoring, and enforcing comprehensive export control policies and procedures that meet or exceed federal requirements governing the export of goods, technology, and information.
Education and Experience :
A minimum of Bachelor's degree is required, with 8 years of direct experience in export control compliance (ITAR, EAR, OFAC) and 3 years of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Arrangement : The Office for Research Protections is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position.
The location of this position is flexible and can operate in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. In-person work at the University Park campus is required for a minimum of one week per month for site inspections and meetings at the Applied Research Laboratory.
Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is :
$97,100.00 - $145,700.00
