Aptive Resources Llc. is Hiring a Graphic Designer Near Alexandria, VA

Aptive is currently seeking a Proposal Graphic Designer to join our Bids and Proposals Team. The right candidate is accountable for creative, compliant, timely design, production, and delivery of professional-level proposal graphics and documents. The graphics designer performs as part of a team producing large volumes of work and is responsible for teamwork and clear communication. This position requires a high degree of expertise in multiple software packages with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple proposal teams. The Graphic Designer will provide services to develop overall layout and production design for various applications by applying extensive knowledge of design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative products, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office). The graphic designer is responsible for familiarity and compliance with both standard and variable requirements on each proposal, including corporate branding requirements, department procedures and standards, internal client preferences, instructions, and mandatory solicitation requirements.
This is a mid-level, full-time position. Candidates are welcome to either work from Aptive’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA or remotely.
Primary ResponsibilitiesWith responsibility across multiple, concurrent projects, the position is characterized by shifting priorities, stringent deadlines, last minute requirements, and evening/weekend hours if necessary to accomplish tasks within sometimes non-negotiable client deadlines, as well as the following:
  • Serve as owner for graphics related RFx response efforts and other non-proposal related graphics projects.
  • Develop proposal graphics, as well as oral presentations
  • Work with capture team personnel, proposal teams, and other internal clients to conceptualize what they are trying to convey and the best way to visually communicate that information
  • Demonstrate visual expertise including gathering raw data from various sources and developing comprehensive and visually engaging designs
  • Demonstrate an understanding and execution of typography and design principles
  • Assist the Bids and Proposals team with preparations for proposal reviews including participating in proposal quality reviews to ensure graphics and designs included in the proposal are effective, consistent, and high-quality
  • Complete desktop publishing and final formatting to ensure proposal are submission ready
  • Create products and services that adhere to design and brand guidelines
  • Formally and informally communicate project status
  • Share ideas with internal team on best practices around visual designs, usability, and supporting technologies
  • Identify new product ideas and optimize existing products
  • Ensure adherence to version control, file naming, and file maintenance procedures
  • Continuously curate, grow, and update our graphics library, including templates and core graphical assets to maximize reuse effectiveness and utility
  • Ensure all deadlines are met
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 years of graphic design experience including federal proposals and presentations
  • Bachelor’s degree (or Major) in Graphic Design or similar field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong time management, creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Adeptness with leading design software packages, including After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
