Aptyx is Hiring a Manufacturing Project Manager Near Torrington, CT

OVERVIEW:

The Program Manager will manage new tooling projects and programs from receipt of customer orders through customer approval. They are responsible for the processes, resources, and process adherence that enables the company to achieve measurable objectives in quality, delivery, and financial performance for all global tooling and engineering development projects. They are also responsible for project deliverables by working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers to meet all requirements and achieve mutual satisfaction.

You should be reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards and be willing to learn and improve. We also expect you to be a good team player.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical and team leadership.
    • Directly or indirectly manage all tool design and fabrication activities, internally and externally, including molds, tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc. required by Operations and Quality.
    • Lead make/buy decisions on tooling and design. Responsible for selection and management of external tool design and build partners globally.
    • Responsible for Tool Evaluation/Groom/Approval and related process development/process optimization and documentation.
    • Provide timely feedback to internal and external customers on the status of tool fabrication initiatives, including performance against established budgets.
    • Oversee cross-functional integration (planning, controlling, executing) within Tooling and Engineering departments, including coordination between customer service, purchasing, production, and engineering.
    • Supervise Engineering and Tooling teams, including evaluations, conflict resolution, decision making, escalation processes, and more.
  • Develop and implement processes.
    • Initiating: processes performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project by obtaining authorization to start the project or phase.
    • Planning: Those processes required to establish project scope, refine objectives, and define the course of action required to attain project objectives
    • Executing: Those processes performed to complete the work defined in the project management plan to satisfy the project specifications
    • Monitoring and Controlling: Those processes required to track, review, and regulate the progress and performance of the project; identify any areas in which changes to the plan are required, and initiate the corresponding changes.
    • Closing: The processes performed to finalize all activities across all Process Groups to formally close the project or phase.
    • Create and deploy processes including, but not be limited to, standard work/standard work instructions for project planning, information flow, and task execution including scope definition and management, and establishing budget/timeline for all approved projects
    • Establish workflow to manage and communicate customer's product quality, on-time delivery, configuration, and quality and inventory requirements
    • Oversee Smartsheet environment and usage including Design and use of Project Templates
  • Manage and align appropriate resources
    • Personally involved in and accountable for the part, tool, and process design for assigned projects
    • Ensure adequate resource capacity of Tool Designers and Tool Builders (internal and external)
    • Process adherence
  • Measurable results
    • Metric development
    • Forecasting, reporting, variance analysis
    • Risk analysis/Risk management actions
    • Root cause analysis and countermeasure development and implementation.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Operations

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent education/experience
  • 5 years of experience working in an injection molding environment
    • Understanding of the design and build of plastic injection parts and molds, injection molding, and related inspection/quality documentation processes.
  • 3 years of experience in a supervision role modeling principle-based leadership style: direct, motivate, develop, and retain outstanding teams
    • Hands-on, analytic, strong communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in project planning and related tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.); PMP certification or equivalent preferred
  • Physical Demands: Standing, bending, and walking over extended periods in a manufacturing environment involving noise, dust, etc.
