Our team needs amedical assistant who is looking for a career in dermatology. The ideal Medical Assistant candidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multi-task. Our team members are responsible for assisting the Provider with patient visits, including consultations and procedures, through the following responsibilities:

Primary Duties

• Prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients.
• Calls patients from the waiting room and places patients in the exam room
• Interview patients and record information in patients' electronic charts.
• Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
• Assists providers with examination or surgical procedures.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with laundry.
• Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
• Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests as ordered by the provider.
• Draws blood and obtains urine specimens from patients. Prepares specimens for the reference laboratory, and completes of appropriate requisitions.
• Prepares biopsy specimens to be sent to the appropriate lab.
• Dispenses oral medications as directed by the provider.
• Educates all new patients on skin cancer and sunscreen use.
• Documents patient visits in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assists phone triage nurse in obtaining prior authorizations for procedures or medications.
• Assists phone triage nurse as needed with prescriptions and refills to the pharmacy according to protocol.

• Able to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others, patients, and co-workers.
• Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
• Able to travel between multiple locations across the region.

Experience and Education:

• Medical Assistant (MA) Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License
• Hands-on experience in a clinical setting
• Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• Full-Time
• Monday - Friday 7 am - 5 pm
• Able to travel to Hiram and Cartersville (mileage reimbursement provided)
