The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will be responsible for a variety of complex accounting, including lease accounting, financing arrangements, purchase accounting, and goodwill impairment evaluation. You will also be responsible for monitoring new accounting guidance, finalizing accounting policies for the department, and ensuring the Company achieves its financial reporting calendar.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Company’s technical accounting specialist. Stay current on new accounting pronouncements and lead the Company’s adoption efforts.
- Actively work with the M&A department to ensure that contingent consideration on acquisitions is monitored and accounted for timely. Assist with acquisition due diligence and lead the Company’s accounting efforts under ASC 805 for future acquisitions.
- Responsible for technical accounting analyses performed by the Company, including the Company’s annual goodwill impairment testing.
- Responsible for the Company’s accounting for preferred unit equity award accounting. Ensure activity is accounted for within the financial statements within a timely manner. Serve as key contact for these matters with external accountants.
- Work with the Company’s third-party tax provider to ensure timely and appropriate accounting for the Company’s tax provision, submission of tax returns, and K-1 reporting to our investors.
- Assist with the accounting treatment of non-routine transactions. Prepare/review journal entries for non-routine accounting transactions.
- Perform complex analysis and related interpretations of accounting records.
- Oversee and manage accounting personnel in preparation of accounting analyses and account reconciliations related to technical accounting areas of focus.
- Lead the preparation of the quarterly financial statements and bank package.
- Lead the preparation of the annual financial statements and footnotes.
- Assist with establishing Accounting policies and guidelines. Ensure execution of established accounting policies and guidelines across the accounting organization.
- Assist with conducting training, goal management, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification required.
- 6 years of experience either within national accounting firm in an audit or technical accounting research role or experience in industry in technical accounting role.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- NetSuite or other ERP experience preferred.
- Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
- Proven track record of improving accounting processes/tools/technology.
- Strong leadership and management abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
