Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Assist in civil/structural engineering analyses and design for distribution/transmission line layout and design
- Assist in the development of construction contracts, material take-offs, material standards, and technical specifications
- Assist with drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purposes
- Assist construction activities with technical support and timely review of submittals
- Self-motivated capable of working independently or in a team toward the timely completion of assigned projects
- Effective verbal and written communication including technical writing skills
- Effectively communicate project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Prepare property records, data, reports and other special projects as required
- Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to our functional area, including but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, NERC Reliability, and the National Electric Safety Code.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong team player: Accomplish tasks by working with others and recognizing how his/her decisions may impact the team and have a willingness to seek input from others
- Quality: Accomplish tasks with a high level of quality so rework and corrections are minimal or nonexistent
- Time Management: Have the ability to successfully plan and accomplish tasks within an established timeline.
- Computer proficiency in operating a personal computer and standard business office applications including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, SAG-10, LPile, MFAD, and other related applications.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels
- Work independently with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Education & Training:
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or other similarly related engineering disciplines
- Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Basic knowledge of civil/structural transmission line design
- Academic knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, including computer applications
- Academic knowledge of field techniques for construction of transmission lines
- Academic knowledge of surveying techniques, practices, and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic knowledge of safe working practices related to electric transmission lines
- A desire to work in the areas of distribution design and transmission line design
- Experience:
- Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in Civil/Structural engineering, preferably related to electric transmission line design.
- Other:
- Registered as an Engineer Intern in Colorado or California.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time on an annual basis.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform all of the essential functions of this position.
- A desire to learn Project Management techniques and/or Construction methods
- Experience in other industries related to Civil/Structural Engineering
- Interest in or member of an industry organization (ASCE, IEEE, NESC, etc.)
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of time to project sites, client offices, and company offices
- $61,000-$82,000 annually
