About the job

A “Servant Leader” who leads by example and promotes human values, entrepreneurial spirit, focus on internal and external customers and business partners. Embodying the A Raymond core values and Raymotion, to ensure overall Business Plans are being met.

Is responsible to provide cost estimates and accurate firm costing for prototype and production level products and assemblies for several product lines including Cleaning Systems keeping in mind customer specific needs and timing.

The Technical Cost Estimator for assemblies works to continually improve communication and procedures to eliminate errors and streamline the costing activity for this specific product line. Interacts with coworkers to achieve optimal results for costs and lead times. This position reports to the New Business Development Costing/Quoting Manager.

Assignments will vary in length and complexity.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains cost structure for products and assemblies in collaboration with the manufacturing plant(s), business development and/or the product line business unit(s)
  • Maintains a list of brokered/manufactured and/or purchased components with up-to-date lead times, costing and/or pricing for prompt quote responses.
  • Calculates part weights for plastic components from CAD and/or 2D drawings.
  • Determines cycle times and machine sizes for plastic injection molded parts in collaboration with the costing team
  • Calculates piece price for plastic components and assemblies.
  • Works with the corresponding plant team members to secure costs for checking fixtures, tooling, EOL testing or any necessary secondary equipment
  • Obtains costs from suppliers though our purchasing team
  • Determines if capital equipment is required when quoting
  • Organizes work and sets priorities to meet deadlines while working both independently and as part of a team
  • Supports project kick off meetings for alignment between costing, business development, engineering, sales, and industrialization teams
  • Supports and processes engineering change quotes
  • Supports the New Business Development Costing/Quoting Manager in meeting the relevant primary business goals and targets set for the NA region annually
  • Supports cost estimation on core products as needed
  • Supports the BD and Sales teams with Cost Breakdown explanations
  • Tracks projects kicked off with details and compares V4 cost estimates vs SAP standard costs to be consistent on future costing
  • Understands and follows NCCP (ARaymond Network Cost Controlling Procedure)
  • Follows IATF 16949 and ISO-14001 procedures and standards
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role, manufacturing and/or cost estimation in the automotive field or equivalent 5-year cost estimating assemblies for automotive cleaning systems, interior or exterior products.
  • Experienced working with OEMs, Tier 1 or Tier 2 in the automotive industry.
  • Experienced understanding and costing/quoting assemblies from initial development through final costing or “level up”
  • General knowledge of assembly processes and how costs are calculated at each sub-process
  • Understands overall manufacturing and financial costs (machine rates, labor rates, capacity constraints, production overhead, set up costs, ES&A, logistics, etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to read and understand 2D drawings is mandatory.
  • Experienced with CAD tools (PTC Creo, Catia or others to view and measure components)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Demonstrated strong organization skills, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be disciplined and self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Experienced or knowledge of SAP

  • Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
