To supervise laundry personnel and ensure that laundry duties for the Environmental Services Department are carried out, includes cleaning of clothes and linens for residents, health care and Arbor Acres.

Job Relationships

1. Reports to and is supervised by the Director of Environmental Arts.

1. Supervises the laundry personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Schedules laundry staff.

1. Monitors laundry for quality and cleanliness.

1. Works with the Housekeeping Supervisors (Retirement and Healthcare) to maintain and improve Environmental Services.

1. Ensures that all laundry personnel utilize the proper charts, record all necessary documents, label the laundry, uses the proper chemicals and protective equipment deemed necessary for laundry services.

1. Performs any task and/or duty that may be assigned on an as needed basis by the Facility Services Director.

1. Establishes daily coverage in laundry as needed to make assignments needed for work load.

Qualifications

Typical Physical Demands

1. Ability to lift 30 lbs.

1. Ability to walk extensively, to squat, bend, kneel, climb to reach 8 ft. ceilings, and reach above shoulders.

1. Needs sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch.

1. Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemical and tolerate the presence of dust.

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Extensive knowledge of housekeeping procedures, policies, and equipment.

1. Extensive skills in planning, organizing and achieving objectives.

1. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

1. Ability to teach, manage and motivate people.

1. Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of a 24-hour facility.

1. Work habits must include: regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, willingness to learn, initiative, dependability, and promptness.

1. Ability to perform simple math calculations, mental functions and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

1. Must be able to thoroughly read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

1. Ability to operate Arbor Acres vehicles.

Minimum Education

1. High School or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

1. 1. Minimum of 2 years work experience in laundry/housekeeping.

1. 1. Management experience required

License and/or Certification Required

1. Must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s license.
