Reports To: Group Home Manager/Residential Coordinator or Director
Employment Type: Full-time
Shifts: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd available

Job Description:We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team in Blountsville, Alabama. As a DSP, you will play a critical role in providing direct care and support to individuals with IDD, helping them achieve their personal goals and lead more independent lives. Your efforts will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and Support: Partner alongside the people we serve, providing coaching, advice, and participation in daily activities.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal care and daily living skills, including bathing, cleaning, feeding, and lifting as needed.
  • Transportation: Transport individuals to and from group homes and various community locations (if applicable).
  • Daily Living Skills: Help individuals develop essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management.
  • Community Integration: Encourage participation in community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities.
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by providing appropriate supervision and following safety protocols.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, health observations, and progress towards individual goals.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Education: Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Related experience preferred but not required.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age for positions requiring driving.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license and be insurable by the agency’s insurance.
  • Screening: Must be able to pass pre-employment screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility: Frequent standing and walking for extended periods; hand dexterity; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
  • Hearing: Ability to listen to sounds both near and far.
  • Sitting: Occasional sitting required.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting and/or moving more than 100 pounds.
  • Vision: Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
