Nursing Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

Oversee, coordinate, and manage nursing services for organization. Promote, demonstrate and ensure

the values, vision and mission of the ARC and its Residential Program ensuring the respect, dignity,

safety and well-being of clients at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Follow policies, procedures and rules of the organization.

● Serve as role model and demonstrate, encourage and offer direction in fairness, consistency,

attentiveness, ability to work with others, appropriate dress and appearance, and effective conflict

resolution.

● Treat all clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors and people in the community with

respect and dignity.

● Maintain confidentiality of those we serve.

● Train, evaluate and supervise all nurses in the performance of their duties.

● Develop nursing policies and procedures following state nursing guidelines.

● Design and implement effective procedures for our facility to oversee the medical care of our

consumers.

● Design effective data collection procedures for documentation of medical condition monitoring.

● Act as liaison to staff and consumers in relating information from community-based medical

personnel.

● Provide medical oversight to patients with Diabetes, heart disease, Prader-Willi Syndrome, and

aging-related issues.

● Review patient histories and function as interdisciplinary team member.

● Work in conjunction with other team members to develop individual health plans for people in the

Intensive Behavior Prader-Willi program.

● Maintain medical record on each patient including medical histories, vital statistics, and

information such as test results.

● Interview patients, staff, family members and medical providers in order to complete medical

histories on each patient.

● Measure vital signs, weight, height, etc. of patients.

● Coordinate with medical facilities and/or departments to arrange patients’ for follow up, tests, or

admissions and follow up after hospital admission or testing.

● Advocate for residents’ rights.

● Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

● Registered Nursing degree or ARNP.

● Current Florida nursing license.

● Four years of experience as RN.

● Experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & WORK HABIT REQUIREMENTS

● Effective verbal and written communication skills.

● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

● Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize.

● Ability to effectively direct and supervise subordinates.

● Ability to work independently and in team settings.

● Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

● Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

● Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copy machine, facsimile equipment, and

computer.

● 24 hour on call availability.

● Knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, disease,

and deformities including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties/interactions, and

preventative health-care measures.

● Care properly for equipment and resources.

● Ability to promote the dignity and respect of those we serve.

● Maintain positive interactions with clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors and people

in the community.

bend, squat, or kneel.
