REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred experience in healthcare customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of reimbursement is necessary.
  • Good physical and mental health is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

REPORTING:

The Admissions Assistant reports directly to the Administrator.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in creating and executing facility marketing plans.
  • Serve as a liaison between the facility and hospital discharge planners.
  • Contact referral sources via phone.
  • Develop relationships to identify unmet healthcare needs in the community and assess the facility's ability to address those needs.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork for appropriate admissions.
  • Lead facility admission and census meetings.
  • Manage marketing material supplies and ensure information packets are readily available.
  • Prepare daily census reports.
  • Compile monthly/quarterly reports as instructed.
  • Handle inquiries from hospitals and the community.
  • Screen potential admissions:
    • Determine payor source.
    • Obtain necessary authorizations.
    • Verify Medicare eligibility.
    • Assess the level of care for proper placement.
  • Process admissions:
    • Notify nursing staff and relevant personnel.
    • Create resident identification bracelets.
    • Provide charts to the appropriate nurse station.
    • Complete admission contracts with residents or responsible parties.
  • Maintain positive relationships with referral sources.
  • Uphold post-admit and ongoing internal relations with residents and families.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Administrator.
  • Complete document uploads and have admission packets signed by newly admitted residents.
  • Fill out MC171, upload photos, gather all required information for admission, and upload PASRR.
  • File and label completed folders.
  • Cover breaks, lunches, and days off for Admissions and Reception as needed.
  • Update and organize the Covid-19 daily log to ensure completion.
  • Update and send Covid-19 notifications to Social Services.
