Arcadis is seeking a Principal Hydraulics Engineer in our NC drainage practice.

Role description:Under the direction of our established leadership team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that will challenge you and provide growth in your career. We have a flexible work environment allowing you to work with a team on local, national, and international projects.
Role accountabilities:
  • Engineering design for numerous roadway drainage and design-build projects including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across North Carolina.
  • Lead design teams on projects that include but are not limited to roadway drainage design, bridge and culvert hydraulic studies, closed drainage system design, post-construction water quality structures design, stormwater permitting and erosion and sedimentation control.
  • Act as lead reviewer and sign and sealer of construction plans, bridge and survey reports, permit plans, and erosion and sedimentation control plans in North Carolina.
  • Prepare construction plans and project displays as needed.
  • Prepare cost estimates, reports, and technical memos as needed.
  • Prepare manday estimates for hydraulics and EC activities to be negotiated with client.
  • Utilize various design software including MicroStation, Inroads, GeoPak, Open Roads, Excel, GIS, HEC-RAS, HY8, FlowMaster, Pond Pack, and/or StormCAD to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
  • Coordinate with project managers, planners, ecologists and discipline leads.
  • Act as main point of contact for clients and NCDOT for drainage and erosion control in North Carolina
  • Possess good communication skills (written and verbal), teamwork skills, and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including fieldwork.
  • Exhibit the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.
  • Possess the ability to work outside of North Carolina as workload dictates.
  • Direct junior engineer’s design activities.
  • Act as mentor and train junior engineers
  • Manage a team of up to 5 engineers.
Qualifications & Experience:Required Qualifications:
  • 15 years of drainage design and project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $116000 - $174000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
