Role description:Arcadis is looking to employ a Technical Intern to support the ANA Places Global Business Area, with an interest in built or natural assets, addressing projects in each of our Global Business Areas – Intelligence, Mobility, Resiliency and Places. You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge in design, construction, and/or cost, risk, and business advisory sectors to support our clients across the US. If you possess solid technical, organizational, and communication skills and have an interest in leveraging new technologies, we want to speak with you.Preferred locations include Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Irvine, CA; New York City, NY; East Windsor, NJ; Middletown, CT; but other locations are acceptable wherever Arcadis has an office Role accountabilities:As a Technical Intern in our Value Engineering services group, you will work directly with the Value Engineering Team Lead, Senior Engineers, and Clients on critical reviews of projects spanning anywhere from a $3M stream restoration project to a $3B transit expansion projects and everything in between. Current and upcoming projects include state-of-good-repair transit projects, highway and bridge improvement projects, new embassy compounds, water and wastewater designs, industrial buildings, and more.
You will have the unique opportunity to delve into business and technical advisory services beyond design and construction management. This includes actively participating in critical value engineering workshops providing your perspective on various solutions including disruptive technologies and supporting the flow of the workshop and development of reports coming out of the workshop.
As an intern you will be expected to be in an office 2-3 times a week and traveling to VE workshops other weeks.You will be responsible for:
- Reviewing material, including design drawings, cost estimates, and design reports and preparing for studies
- Contributing to client deliverables, including draft/final reports and presentations.
- Engaging in continuous learning and professional development activities to expand knowledge and skills in value engineering and all the projects we address including water resources, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, remediation, buildings, transit and transportation facilities, etc
- Analyzing projects and developing alternative solutions based on expertise in operations, performance assessment, constructability, value engineering, safety, environmental issues, risk assessment, and reliability
- Enrolled in a BS Degree in Engineering, Cost, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent
- Interest in software, big data, and AI
- Interest in both the technical and non-technical side of natural and built assets
- Prior experience in management consulting, value consulting, value engineering, change management, financial/investment analysis, project management, construction, inspection services or engineering design

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $17.30 - $28.80 / hour.
