Responsibilities:General Position Description: Considered an emerging authority, who applies extensive technical expertise. Develops technical solutions to complex problems. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment. Develop system requirements, perform requirements management, perform requirements verification, perform compliance assessments in support of major design reviews, and perform model-based systems engineering using technical planning; system integration, verification and validation. Responsible for using MBSE and Engineering tools to identify program requirements, track performance metrics, and manage the systems engineering process.
Program Description:
This program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an important Intelligence Community (IC) customer with a focus on critical, assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure. The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems engineering life cycle beginning with conops development, where we work directly with users, potentially going into harm's way, who will be dependent on these communications systems. We then capture their requirements and work closely with developers to deliver these essential capabilities. We get involved with setting up and running tests to ensure these cutting-edge capabilities will meet the stringent requirements and then we support transition to operations. Once in operations, our teams work closely with the users to make sure critical operations are successful, providing important information to support critical decisions by policy makers. The program also supports client acquisition strategy, future technology development, modernization efforts, as well as cyber and information assurance support.
Specific Position Description:
This position is contingent on winning the FALSTAFF SETA contract with an Intelligence Community (IC) government agency in Chantilly, VA. This is an exciting new opportunity to get in at the start of a seven-year contract where the customer is looking to modernize their systems, including moving into Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as their primary form of systems engineering. During this time of tight government budgets, digital engineering will help our client to afford more capability and be able to rapidly respond to changing priorities as they look to stay ahead of our adversaries around the world. This position will help to guide this transformation over the next several years, leading to a much more efficient and responsive systems baseline that is poised to quickly address our customer's critical needs. Duties will include establishing a roadmap for transitioning from traditional document-based systems engineering to MBSE, based on a logical review of the current and future systems, as well as the client's priorities in a typically budget constrained environment. Systems modeling will take place using SysML and industry standard MBSE toolsets such as Cameo. Another duty for this position will include helping other systems engineers to become familiar with MBSE so they can begin to model their systems as well, creating a force multiplier across the team. The goal is to eventually migrate all systems engineering functions into the MBSE ecosystems and join the rest of the agency's efforts to move into a digital engineering future.
