St. Theresa Parish in North Reading is looking for a part-time Coordinator of Confirmation and Youth Ministry to join our Faith Formation team. The ideal candidate will be a joyful, active, and prayerful disciple of Jesus Christ who desires to share that faith with our youth and their families.
Specific Responsibilities:

• Work with the Assistant Confirmation Coordinator to run the Confirmation program (grades 8 – 10 this coming year, and grades 7 & 8 in years following)
• Provide opportunities for parents and families to participate in Confirmation preparation and to deepen their own faith
• Work with the Director of Faith Formation and the Faith Formation Assistant to ensure consistency of curriculum across all grade levels
• Plan and run a variety of Youth Ministry activities for both high school and middle school students – at least two events for each age group per month
• Keep the parishioners informed about your events and classes through regular bulletin articles, emails, posts, and pictures in cooperation with the parish communication coordinator
• During the summer, plan and run longer events for both age groups (e.g. service projects, day trips, trips to diocese and national catholic youth events)
• Youth group events should include a variety of types of activities (e.g. faith/worship, service, small group study)
• Recruit, train, and administer adult volunteers who will assist you in this ministry as catechists, youth group assistants, and event chaperones. Ensure these adults have required child protection training and regular CORI checks.
• Work to foster trust and relationships with the parents as you assist them in forming the faith of their children.
• Follow diocesan guidelines on youth protection, trips with minors, social media usage, etc.
• Attend regular parish staff meetings, staff retreats, and Archdiocesan Faith Formation Leader meetings

Qualifications:

• A Catholic with deep faith in-line with Catholic teachings
  • Regularly participate in the sacramental life of the Church (weekly Mass attendance, regular confession, etc.)
  • Desire to bring youth and parents closer to Christ
  • Experience working with youth (ministry or catechist experience a plus)
  • BA degree in Catholic theology or ministry a plus
• Availability to work
  • regularly on Sunday afternoons & evenings at the parish
  • 2 - 4 times a month on weeknights at the parish
  • longer stretches (days to a week) in the summer for service opportunities and trips at off-site locations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Facebook, Instagram, etc) Willingness to work collaboratively with both adults and youth
• Physical demands – ability to transport materials (up to 30 lbs), to sit for extended periods of time, vision with depth perception, to talk and hear, and must possess a valid driver’s license
