Archdiocese of Chicago is Hiring a College Readiness-Associate Director - Our Lady of Tepeyac High School - Little Village - Vic. III Near CHICAGO, IL

The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150 elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years.

The aim of the College Readiness Program is to help students and their families understand the basic vocabulary of the college application process and select an educational setting that is best for them. By giving each student individual attention, we expose our Tepeyac students, as well as their families, to the opportunities that exist both academically and financially and support her as she selects a college and completes the application process. The program also serves to expose students to an array of different careers and supports through career panels, summer opportunities, college field trips, and the mentoring program. The program also helps develop leadership skills by spearheading a Leadership Development Program in conjunction with other Big Shoulders Fund High Schools.

The College Readiness Associate Director working collaboratively with the College Readiness Director and other support faculty and staff.

Primary responsibilities include:
Student Support

  • Serve as the lead for all Junior Class student support and guidance services.
  • Prepare Juniors to begin the college selection and application process
  • Meet Juniors individually and in groups on a regular basis to guide academic success
  • Lead the Junior Curriculum- program that meets once a month to prepare the junior class for their transition to senior year; focuses on the college application process.
  • Work with parents to prepare their daughter for the college application process

College Visitation

  • Serve as the lead for all College visitation opportunities for all four grade levels.
  • Plan annual campus visits for all four grade levels, focusing more heavily on the Junior Class
  • Coordinate transportation and tours
  • Assist students and families in setting up individual campus visits

Program Events

  • Coffee & Careers (Lead Staff Member)
    • Monthly program to highlight the educational and career path of Tepeyac alumna for current
      students.
  • Leadership Development Program (Supporting Staff Member)
    • Joint program between Big Shoulders Fund High Schools focusing on leadership development,
      service and positive peer connections.
  • Career Day (Supporting Staff Member)
    • Work with the Director and other administration members to offer a spring Career Day for all four
      grade levels.
  • College Fair (Supporting Staff Member)
    • Work with the Director and other administration members to offer an annual College Fair for all
      four grade levels.
  • Summer Opportunities and Internships (Supporting Staff Member)
    • Work with Ignatian Volunteer Corps member to expose students to summer jobs and internship opportunities.
  • Resources
    • Work with the Director of Marketing to provide regular, update to date college preparedness and
      financial aid resources for parents and students for the Our Lady of Tepeyac High School website. No website design knowledge is required.
