SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Our vibrant parish is seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for the spiritual formation of our youth in grades 7 – 12 in our parish and in the wider community. We expect the candidate to have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church, and a big heart for youth. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the two-year Confirmation program as well as coordinate the outreach and evangelization of high school teens in our parish. This individual should possess good communication skills, an ability to think outside of the box, be able to work as both a team player and leader and have efficient organizational skills. The position is up to 19 hours a week, including some Sundays and weeknights.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To assist our students to encounter God in the sacraments, the teachings of the Church, in the Mass, and in prayer, in their parish community, in experiences of service, and in a special way, in you.
Create and oversee the age-appropriate programming for middle and high school age youth around the Encounter/Grow/Witness model.
Coordinate the two-year Confirmation program under the supervision of the Pastor.
Establish a high school Youth Ministry program under the supervision of the Pastor.
Willingness to collaborate with youth ministry programs in the Family of Parishes
Coordinate guest speakers for the faith formation and Youth Ministry sessions.
Coordinate retreats, any outings and service-related experiences.
Exhibit effective organizational planning and timely follow-through.
Exhibit strong communication skills with the parents and within the parish.
Must be able to work well with parish staff and volunteers.
Will participate in and adhere to the implementation/requirements of Empowering God’s Children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in theology or equivalent experience or education; willing to participate in continuing education.
Preferred experience in Youth Ministry.
Preferred experience in teaching Catholic faith to students.
Completed Protecting God’s Children and a criminal background check.
Experience in parish or school leadership.
Proven ability in ministering to youth with an understanding of teen culture and development of youth.
Must have proficient computer skills. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable using social media platforms.
