Title of the position: Elementary Teacher -1st Grade

General Description:
We are growing! As our enrollment continues to increase, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School is seeking highly qualified, dynamic, creative, and professional educators who have an admirable commitment to academic excellence. The teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The teacher is immediately responsible to the Principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of Detroit as they relate to the function of the school, the classroom, and the immediate contact with students and parents.
Education/Experience Requirements (include but not limited to):
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university minimum
  • Michigan Teacher’s Certification
  • An understanding of the Catholic Faith and the ability to witness to it personally and professionally
  • ZA endorsement preferred K-2
  • Catechist certification (or willingness to attain certification)
  • Successful teaching experience preferred
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, school staff, and others in a calm and respectful manner at all times
