Art and Photography TEACHER
Mercy High School Burlingame, an all-girls college preparatory secondary school, has an opening for an
art and photography teacher starting Aug. 7, 2024. Teachers have the opportunity to work in a small
school environment, with class sizes ranging from 6 to 25 students.
Teaching schedule includes four classes (full-time). Classes are Art 1-3 Honors, AP Art 2D, and Digital
Photography, with some mixed level sections. All classes are UC-approved, and the art teacher uses
traditional teaching methodology, including giving formative feedback and assessing summative
performances and projects.
The art teacher is responsible for the overall coordination of teaching including delivering lessons,
accurate assessment of student progress, participation in department meetings and team planning
sessions, and supervision of students. The art teacher should be skilled in differentiating instruction and
meeting the needs of various learners.
The art teacher is an active VPA department member who participates in VPA department and
admissions events and helps to plan and co-manage the annual art show.
Minimal qualifications:
? B.A. in Art
? 3 years teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school environment
? Adobe Creative Suite experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
? Master's Degree in Education or Art
? California Secondary Teaching Credential
? Strong computer and iPad skills
? AP Art teaching experience
Salary based on faculty salary scale, and is commensurate with experience and education of applicant,
per the Mercy salary scale. (Range $53,118- 103,248)
