Area Substance Abuse Council is Hiring a Youth Outpatient Counselor Near Rapids, IA

Description

Join Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) as a Youth Outpatient Counselor and make a lasting impact on the lives of those on their journey to recovery.

We are seeking a dynamic, full-time substance abuse counselor to work with adolescents in our outpatient treatment program in Cedar Rapids. The Youth Counselor serves as a key member of the treatment team by providing services to patients that help them learn to live a safe, healthy, and productive life free from substance use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with patients and lead engaging and transformative group sessions, fostering a positive healing environment.
  • Initiate family sessions and educate patient's families, building a strong support network for lasting change.
  • Manage and maintain a patient caseload, ensuring each individual receives personalized and effective treatment plans, reviewed and adapted to their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with other community agencies to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.
  • Stay ahead in your field by attending training sessions to enhance your counseling skills and techniques.
  • Provide urinalysis monitoring when needed, ensuring patient progress is tracked effectively.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in line with HIPAA and 42CFR guidelines, protecting patient privacy and trust.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling or related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree and/or current CADC are also strongly encouraged to apply. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass an extensive background check.
