Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Industrial Engineer of distribution Services is responsible for supporting the Logistics Organization in designing, optimizing, and managing distribution center operations to ensure efficient and effective storage, movement, and distribution of goods. This role involves applying engineering principles to enhance operational processes, safety, and productivity within the distribution center environment.
Can work out of Boston Heights, Ohio or Dallas, Texas. Key Fundamental Skill Sets For This Role Will BeDistribution Center Design and Layout
  • Supports CLO and VP, of DC Operations to plan and design distribution center layouts to optimize space utilization, accessibility, and flow of goods.
  • Work with the team to determine the placement of storage racks, shelving, aisles, and workstations.
  • Ensure safety measures and ergonomic considerations are implemented into the layout design.
Process Optimization
  • Support in analyzing existing distribution center processes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Help implement lean principles and engineering methodologies to streamline operations and reduce waste.
  • Efficiency gains in processes and procedures using time studies and motion analysis.
  • Support team in developing and implementing efficient order picking, packing, and shipping processes.
Inventory Management
  • Ensure inventory controls are operating as expected to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Working with the Planning and Allocation team to develop strategies for efficient inventory rotation, minimizing stockouts and overstock situations.
Automation and Technology
  • Research, evaluate, and implement distribution center automation solutions as needed to improve efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain automated material handling systems, robotics, and other technologies.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines in distribution center operations.
  • Ensure hazards are minimized and create a safe working environment for employees.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement changes as needed in partnership with the management team.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess distribution center performance.
  • Utilize data analysis to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate performance metrics to the Senior Management team.
Cost Efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs and optimize resource utilization; present solutions
  • Work with the DC Management Teams to implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, sourcing, planning and allocation, transportation, final mile and customer service, to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Continuous Improvement
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement. Support organizational growth by recommending adapting distribution center operations to changing customer demands and market dynamics as needed.
Requirements/ Essential Functions Of The Position
  • Minimum of BS degree in Industrial Engineering 5 years’ experience
  • Excellent leadership skills, and a proven record of building a strong team and collaborative culture.
  • Ability to lead by example, foster workplace collaboration, and lead with the highest integrity, professionalism, and respect. Takes responsibility for one’s actions; shows consistency between words and actions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines independently and collectively.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, engineered time standards, process re-engineering, and labor management systems experience
  • Lean operations and Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Highly computer literate, capable of working without assistance to develop advanced Excel models and manipulate data in Access databases.
  • Basic skills in AutoCAD
  • Interpersonal skills, self-confidence, leadership abilities
  • Professional communication skills, verbal and written communication at all levels
  • Able to build cross-functional teams in support of various initiatives
  • Experienced negotiation skills, training skills, and capital initiative understanding
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required

  • Ability to develop and implement cost savings for areas while maintaining the highest service levels.

  • Must be highly motivated, goal-oriented, and able to complete tasks on time
  • Consistent regular scheduled attendance is considered an essential function of this job.
