Location Description:

The iconic Arizona Biltmore is located in the heart of the prestigious Biltmore neighborhood in Phoenix. The resort was named the Jewel of the Desert since its opening on February 23, 1929. This gorgeous 39-acre property reopened in May 2021 after undergoing a $150 million restoration and has over 700 rooms, over 200,000 square feet in banquet space, and 8 food and beverage outlets (including 2 restaurants, 2 pools, 2 bars, a gelato shop/caf, and in-room dining).

Overview:

We are looking for a food and beverage enthusiast to join our talented F&B team as a Bar Manager ! Amazing opportunity if you're looking for a place you can grow within with a supportive leadership team and a people-first culture that follows through on ensuring a work-life balance.

In this role, you will assist with managing operations of 2 bars (Spire and Wright) and report directly to the General Manager of Bars. This includes managing a team of 20-25 (including 1 seasonal Supervisor) and ensuring the team is trained, executing, and held accountable for performing all our steps of luxury service. The typical shift for this role is 4pm-12am and includes weekends and holidays.

Spire Bar is a beautiful, 250-seat outdoor lounge that was added to the hotel in 2021. Wright Bar is the iconic lobby bar where the original Tequila Sunrise was created in the 1930's.

As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Hire, train, supervise, direct, coach, counsel, and evaluate staff in the bar. Communicate
    effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff. Assign and instruct
    bar staff in details of work. Observe performance and encourage improvement where
    necessary.
  • Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to
    and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
    Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situation and/or heavy hotel activity,
    serving as a role model for the bar staff and other hotel employees.
  • Field customer complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation in order to choose
    the most effective solutions. Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience
    and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
    Demonstrate knowledge of third party liability and detect and act upon guest inebriation as
    trained
  • Develop and implement basic operating standards for bar service in compliance with federal,
    state, local and Hilton's own practices. (e.g. Employee Alcohol Awareness Training and
    Compliance).
  • Maximize bar profitability; implement effective controls of beverage and labor costs and
    monitor the bars budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted
    revenue and labor expenses. Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating
    inventory, ordering, retrieving and stocking product. Evaluate cost effectiveness of all
    aspects of operation. Develop and implement cost savings and profit enhancement
    measures. Maintain established inventory by ordering all liquor and supplies in accordance
    with business needs and participate in monthly liquor inventories.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget for the bar.
  • Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, staff meetings, etc.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage program, which may require occasional weekend stayovers
  • Utilize traditional software programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and/or Outlook
    Express.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed
    standards.
Qualifications:
  • At least two (2) years of food and beverage leadership experience in a fast paced / high-volume environment
  • Team player
  • Great attitude
  • Flexible and Reliable
  • Availability to work nights (4pm-12am), weekends, and holidays
  • TIPS Certification
  • Certified Sommelier is a plus
  • Luxury / upscale experience preferred
  • Prior bartender experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
