Job Summary:

Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider by performing the duties as assigned.

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

• Performs clinical and administrative duties that assist in the delivery of effective patient care within specialty clinic
• Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, perform vitals, dressing removal and other related medical assistant duties.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical practice and patient care as it relates to the clinical setting and medical specialty
• Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares treatment rooms for patients and physicians
• Rooms patients, take vitals, and removes dressings prior to physician’s examination.
• Performs suture and staple removal, applies and removes splints, casts, and dressing per Physician/Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner’s direction.
• Maintaining a clean and/or sterilize room, instruments, etc.
• Stocking and organizing exam rooms.
• Refer patients out for therapy/imaging per physician’s orders
• FMLA/Short-term disability completion and organization
• Chart documentation
• Time management

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.

Preferred Skills/Education:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certificate
• 1 year of EMR systems
• Previous medical assisting (MA) experience
• Spanish Speaking
• Had previous experience in occupational medicine, hand surgery, orthopedics and/or wound care

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.
