Candidates who are successfully employed as Case Aide for four (4) years will be eligible to apply for a promotional opportunity to a DCS Specialist Trainee Position.
WHAT DOES AN ASSISTANT CASE MANAGER(CASE AIDE) DO?
A DCS Assistant Case Manager (Case Aide) Works In The Field, In Collaboration With The Case Management Team, And Provides a Variety Of Services To Families And Children In Various Social Service Programs. A Day In The Life Of a DCS Assistant Case Manager (Case Aide) Can Look Like
  • Assisting clients as outlined by the assigned case manager
  • Providing services to individuals and families in various social service programs within the Department of Child Safety (DCS)
  • Transporting clients as needed including handling and installing child safety seating
  • Arranging client appointments
  • Supervising visits between parents and children
  • Referring clients to appropriate community resources.
  • Participating in Foster Care Review Board meetings, court hearings and other meetings as required
  • Documenting observations and interactions with clients in DCS case management system.
  • Provides case management assistance and provides clerical support as needed.
Alternative work hours may be required, including overtime, weekends and holidays.
WHAT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ARE HELPFUL?
Knowledge OfComputers and software (Microsoft Office Suite), mobile devices, digital calendars (Outlook) & video conferencing (Microsoft Teams).
Skill InEstablishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; general clerical functions such as, data entry and filling; verbal and written communication; eliciting and gathering information; modeling professional behavior with clients; time management and multi-tasking; and observation.
Ability ToGain knowledge on information regarding human and social services; understand and adhere to related State, Federal and local laws, as well as, DCS policies and procedures; comply with casework principles and practices; comprehend and follow moderately complex written and oral instructions; organize data in a logical and coherent manner; prepare written reports accurately in a prescribed format; actively listen and provide supportive attention to clients; acquire and renew CPR Certification.
Selective PreferenceThe ideal candidate will have college experience with credit hours in child development, rehabilitation, counseling, psychology, social services, sociology or related field.
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE AN ASSISTANT CASE MANAGER(CASE AIDE)?
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Arizona issued driver’s license.
  • Level one Fingerprint Clearance card - Arizona.
Selected candidates must be able to pass a background investigation and DCS Central Registry check.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
